72 years old Brazilian rosewood Concert Masterpiece:
640mm, radius, armrest
This set of Brazilian rosewood is one of the oldest I ever had. It has been drying since the day Adolf Hitler broke the Treaty of Versailles. 72 years ago. This historical event that anticipated WW2 puts puts the age of this set it in perspective. It is sober and elegant with very tight and uniform grain. I received it from Rio in late January and it was encapsulated in wax. The tap tone was simply phenomenal and the resulting instrument a true masterpiece. I added my favorite Italian spruce for the top because it helps define the voices and control the brutal force that Brazilian rosewood generates...especially in the bass line. You can notice how deep and seasoned the sound on this babe is in the Bach prelude I recorded as sample. A splendid Russian rosette and spectacular marquetry decorate the babe from top to bottom.
The action is easy as you would expect on a 640mm scale. Every change is swift and practically effortless.
