90 years old Brazilian rosewood B&S, ALPINE Spruce top: 640mm radiused fingerboard, armrest, Lattice Braced, violin tie, Thai Amboina burl details, Hardshell case included. SPECTACULAR !

The set of Brazilian rosewood i used to build this queen is the oldest air dried set I ever received. It air dried near Minas Gerais (Brazil) for over 90 years, that is before WWI started in Europe ! The Beautifully book matched set arrived encaplsuled in wax in July along with 3 other sets. The tap tone is phenomenal and coupling the tropical species with its alpine counterpart seemed like a match made in heaven. The sound is full and powerful with rich harmonic midtones and bases that send powerful vibrations through the player's body. The Alpine spruce adds clarity and a tremendous separation of voices typical of the species.
The action on the 640mm radiused fingerboard flaws easy and natural. Access to the most demanding positions is rendered easy. I used a colorful handmade Brazilian rosette with a tropical pattern to create contrast with the white Alpine spruce. The matching marquetry is colorful and adds artistry from every angle.
Triple neck reinforcement, amboina burl from Thailand for the headplate, armrest and tie add a touch of uniqueness to this marvelous concert instrument.
This is the second of 4 sets that Pierre, my childhood friend from Italy, shipped to me in early July.
Italian Alpine spruce grows at over 3,500 meters in very cold environment. This slows the growth making the fibers tight and musically very resonant. A beautiful range of sound with a fast response. Clear trebles and a reverberating bass that makes the whole body vibrate. The sound on this Spruce top is fantastic. Still, it takes approximately 6 months for Alpine spruce to fully break in. I can only wonder what she will sound like then.
