| 90 years old FIGURED Brazilian rosewood B&S, ALPINE Spruce top: 640mm radiused fingerboard, armrest, Lattice Braced, Guitar case included. Jewel ! |
I can hardly resist a set of wood with dramatic figuring. Such was the case with this splendid 90 years old Brazilian rosewood set. I matched it with an Italian Alpine spruce top and the resulting instrument produces a sound that is simply FABULOUS ! Big, round, easily malleable and with a personality seldom seen. The bass seems to have a life of its own and the trebles and mid ranges are simply some of the most crispy I have ever heard. Gorgeous !! Listen how the contrapuntal lines in Asturias seem to talk with different tones as if a conversation among several persons was taking place. The action on the 640mm radiused fingerboard flaws easy and natural. Access to the most demanding positions is rendered easy. I used a beautiful handmade Russian rosette with a snowy pattern to recreate the snowy surroundings of the Alpine species. Triple neck reinforcement, figured Brazilian rosewood headplate and armrest along with a Macassar ebony bridge add a touch of uniqueness to this marvelous concert instrument. Italian Alpine spruce grows at extremely high altitudes in very cold environment. This slows the growth making the fibers tight and musically very resonant. A beautiful range of sound with a fast response. Clear trebles and a reverberating bass that makes the whole body vibrate. The sound on this Spruce top is fantastic. Still, it takes approximately 6 months for Alpine spruce to fully break in. I can only wonder what she will sound like then. |
