63 years old Brazilian rosewood Concert Masterpiece:
640mm, radius, armrest
When my 12 years old daughter Chiara saw me taking pictures of this beauty this afternoon, she exclamated: "Mira, parece una mariposa !!" . -She looks like a butterfly !- True, the figure on this 63 years old cut of Rio de Janeiro Brazilian rosewood resembles the figure on a butterfly's wings. Spectacular to say the least. The cut was shipped from Rio de Janeiro in late January along with other 8 cuts. All encapsulated in wax and with a tap tone to die for. I matched the back and sides with Alpine spruce. The resulting babe is simply a powerhouse of sound...you feel as though a heard of wild horses is galloping right next to you each time you set the basses in motion. Powerful ! The trebles are clear and the instrument responds immediately to every slight change in the angle of attack to the strings.
I used ebony for the bridge bindings and fingerboard, a spectacular Russian rosette and the most delicious marquetry throughout the instrument. The looks on this babe are simply glorious. The action is tremendously easy on the slim cedar neck with a radiused ebony fingerboard that makes you feel as though you were cheating...
