Brazilian
rosewood B&S , Italian spruce top: Fabulous concert guitar !
640mm,
radius, Armrest
This
concert guitar was built with one of four gorgeous sets of Brazilian
rosewood I received at the end of 2007 from Rio de Janeiro. The sets have
air-dried for at least 18 years. The grain is very beautiful and has all
the colorings of a wild American Puma. Simply gorgeous. Tap tone impressed
me from the start as the wood resonated evenly throughout. I matched the
Brazilian rosewood back and sides with an Italian Spruce top. Beautiful
tight grain to match the back and sides majestically. I decorated the top
with a fabulous handmade mother of pearl rosette. The Brazilian rosewood
bridge is also decorated with a fine mother of pearl application on the
strings tie. I used African Blackwood Bindings and luxury marquetry to
decorate this beauty. Figured Jacarandá was used to make the armrest.
The sound is incredibly balanced.
No single voice wants to take over and the control is where it should be:
in the player's right hand. Beautiful round and punchy basses fill the
musical counterpoint and mid ranges to die for bring them closer to the
clear penetrating first string. The player feels in total control of the
music. The response is immediate and vibratos are natural. The sound can
easily fill any concert hall with the 93.1 dbs she puts out at approx.
9 feet from the digital db meter.
The 640 mm radiused ebony fingerboard
makes position changes a lot easier than on other concert instruments.
To reach for any note is made easier by the radius and a lot less energy
is wasted trying to stop the notes. The extras are: Armrest, Radius, 640mm,
Mother pearl rosette (Added value, US$ 530)
Finally, the overall impression
one gets when looking and hearing this babe is that a guitar cannot possibly
be built any better.
