| 94 years air
dried and highly figured Brazilian rosewood B&S, LATTICE
BRACED Cedar top, Gabon Ebony bindings,
radiused fingerboard, armrest, violin tie and bridge. 640mm fret
spacing. Mother of pearl rosette, Soundport. Embossed leather
case included. SPECTACULAR !!!
This concert cutaway is the perfect combination between beauty and performance. I matched a 94 years air dried set of Brazilian rosewood from Belo Horizonte (Brazil) with a dark, spectacular set of Western Red cedar. The construction and art work was crowned by a spectacular mother of pearl rosette that turns her into a Grand Masterpiece. Add to this the GORGEOUS Ebony bindings that match the Ebony violin tie, armrest and decorated bridge and you have a piece of unique art in your arms. The sound is BEAUTIFUL ! The sweetness and punch of Cedar make her sing like a bird. I chose Torroba's Elegia to enhance her singing qualities. Note that I do not use the rest stroke and I only use the flesh on the thumb for this piece and I was stunned at the amazing vibration she sends through my body as I play. The vibratos are natural and easy to be created. The lattice enables the instrument to sing loudly throughout the fingerboard and way passed the 12th fret. A whole set of mid tones and a grand palette of harmonics is created at every stroke of the right hand fingers. She's intuitive to the right hand plucking and the response is immediate. The left hand feels at home in the 640 mm fret spacing on the radiused fingerboard. A cutaway concert guitar you do not want to miss. |
The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. As you see from the picture above, the thinned area is approximately 1.2 mm thick (VS 2-2.5 in the standard thinning techniques). Lattice delivers a lot of volume (approximately 21 dbs more) and wonderfully clear trebles.

The hand embossed leather case
is a work of art on its own right. Built by one of a handful of very talented
leather embossers in Latin America.
