This is the type of instrument every guitarist dreams with. It is simply PERFECT under any point of view. I decided to go with Contreras doble tapa variation 1. The doble tapa, was developed and introduced by Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. The word "Tapa" in Spanish translates to top in English but it refers to the back of the instrument. Therefore, Contreras doble tapa is actually a "Double back". He also worked on this variation. The idea was picked up by Ramirez and I played a Ramirez doble tapa which incorporated this system. I studied the Doble tapa closely because it is in the hands of my dearest teachers (Sila Godoy). He asked me to go with him when he purchased her in 1984 -I was in Madrid studying with Andres Segovia and Narciso Yepes-. I can proudly say that we finally came up with a guitar that totally eclipses the Ramirez and I am sure would make Contreras tremendously proud. The cedar top is halfway between top 1 (Alpine spruce) and the back. It unites to the first top through transversal struts and the sides. The vibration starts on this top a fraction of a second later than on the first top and the result is a fabulous sustain and a tremendous punch. Fast reaction to the player's plucking and great palette of colors. This is also the first doble tapa cutaway ever built. Making this type of instrument available as a ready to ship instrument at a down to Earth price is the type of offer you just do not want to miss. A fabulous 92 years air dried set of Brazilian rosewood from Cascavel (brazil, was matched by an Alpine spruce top and doubled half way down the sides by a second Western red cedar top. The amount of colors and sustain that this babe puts out is simply UNBELIEVABLE. Once the Alpine spruce starts vibrating it sends powerful vibrations to the cedar top through vertical struts that connect the 2 tops. The cedar starts vibrating a fraction of a second later and the sustain and power that this creates is hard to describe in words. The video will help you understand this A LOT better. Listen how sustained each note is and how long it takes for it to decay and ebb away in Romance. Fabulous ! The response is immediate and you feel as though your sound possibilities are infinite. They are. Decorating her was another work of love and passion. A gorgeous French Polynesia mother of pearl rosette decorates the Spruce top. Luxury ebony bindings and trims on all sides coupled by ebony and African Padauk linings enhance the lines of this TREMENDOUSLY BEAUTIFUL guitar. The action on the radiused 640mm fret board is simply UNBELIEVABLE. Playing on this babe will take your artistry to the next level. I would definitely have the 2 soundports (upper and lower bout) and violin tie added. I offer her in this more "classical version" to please as many players as possible. A TRUE MASTERPIECE. |

| Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard. The standard fingerboard is flat. The hand embossed leather case is a work of art on its own right. Built by one of a handful of very talented leather embossers in Latin America. Its built following my specifications for the interior to fit Bellucci guitars like a glove. All Plush interior, key and accessories compartment. You can request an upgrade to a Cow hive front and back version. 640mm or 650 mm?
