Rosewood Back and sides Cedar
top "Segovia
Model" The
sheer beauty and powerful sound that emanates from this masterpiece Cedar
top is simply fabulous. A gorgeous 100 years air dried set of dark Brazilian
rosewood from Minas Gerais (Brazil) was matched with a superb set of Western
Redcedar (commonly known as Canadian Cedar).
The African
Padauk Maple bindings add a masterful touch to the lines of the guitar
and the luxury marquetry is breathtaking matching to perfection with the
handmade Russian rosette. The rosette is a work of art on its own right.
Extreme are was taken to ensure that this beauty would be an eye candy
as well as a sound powerhouse. The action is low and agile. 3.7mm at fret
12 (from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret). It can be lowered
1 more mm if your right hand plucking is more towards the soft side. The
Air came out easy and the vibratos are easy and natural. I was amazed
at the fast response of the guitar sound as I worked my way around the
different voices while the melody was kept in center stage. The bass is
amazingly powerful and every voice falls in the right place taking making
the piece shine. Finally the gold plated tuners with Zebrawood buttons
are precise and achieve perfect tuning and smooth rolling.

The fan bracing I used is the 9
fans 1943 Hauser. After the final tapping and sanding, the top is examined
looking through a 40 Watts light bulb. If the thinning was good, light
will pass through the wood.
Western Redcedar Western Redcedar. Chinook helicopters
are used to extract these monster trees from the thick mountainous canopy.
