120 year air dried Brazilian Rosewood B&S, Special Hauser braced 280 year old Sinker Redwood Top Concert guitar. Cocobolo bindings, 640mm. Ebony fingerboard and decorated Rosewood bridge. Ebony armrest, Luxury hand crafted marquetry on all sides. Gold plated carved tuners, bone nut and saddle. Hand crafted Leather embossed case included. Masterpiece!
I am always stunned and pleasantly surprised when I stare at Rosewood's amazing figure. The most skilled painter would not be able to replicate the intricate workings of the grain of this American species on Canvas. Simply spectacular ! The gorgeous, perfectly bookmatched set of  BRW was matched with a 280 and more aged Sinker redwood top. This wood is so rare that when I have a chance to get a few sets I jump to it immediately. I was lucky enough to get this set and a few more I will be using in future projects. Swirls, reflections, shades of color ...all melt in one stunning guitar. Redwoods are the largest living creatures on the planet. They have been around since the times when dinosaurs roamed the planet and some living trees were germinating when Jesus was born. Tap tone on both the BRW and the Sinker redwood talked loudly of the magnificent sound I could expect from the resulting guitar. My expectations were met fully and the sound on this amazing babe is simply breathtaking! As I was playing Bach's Air on the G string and Barrios' Una limosna por el amor de Dios, I could feel the amazing presence of the Sound she produces and the depth and unique breath of  Redwood. The bass seems to have a life of its own  and is pushed out of the body at an amazing speed. You can practically see the soundwave such is the power of the bass. The special Hauser bracing brings out the clear melody pattern of the Air and you can hear the first string sing majestically while the third and second fill every possible gap in the harmonic structure. Few guitars will enhance your playing to this extent.
I decorated her with Cocobolo bindings and luxury marquetry.  Her beauty is only surpassed by the ease of play. The action is set at 3.5mm at the 12th fret and the left hand never builds up tension. Changing positions is easy and natural and your whole playing apparatus becomes tremendously efficient.
Do not let this masterpiece pass you by.

Sinker logs

Sinker logs, are pulled from the bottom of lakes and rivers. Sometimes, scuba divers are needed to achieve the extraction.  Most of these logs are hundreds of years old (In one of the pictures above, you can see that the tree was cut with an hatchet). Due to a series of factors (The logs were too big and heavy to be pulled out of the rivers or the logs were caught by currents and were sucked to the bottom)  these logs were trapped by the muddy buttons of these water beds and this created like a time capsule where the wood was preserved in fantastic humidity conditions that made the wood season in a slow natural way during many centuries. Some of the logs are selected for musical instruments construction. The sound that these woods produce is unique and the grain has a beautiful coloration that changes according to the type of mud present in the water bed.

The fan brace is based on the Hauser 1943 Frame. It incorporates 4 different species of wood: Sinker redwood, Spruce, Cedar and Mahogany. The sinker Redwood is the transversal strut that shortens the trebles side to augment the power of the high registers whilst Cedar and spruce were used on the bass side to augment the power of and resonance of the bass line. I think I can affirm that she has the most powerful 6th string I have ever heard and one of the best ringing trebles you can hope for. Simply amazing. The top was reduced to less than 1 mm towards the edges and just a little over 1 mm towards the bridge area where I installed a new underbridge system that connects the bridge with each strut in the fan brace whilst directing each frequency to the right portion of the top.

Adjustable saddle bone
Adjustable-saddle-bone
When ordering a guitar, every player will ask me to set the action as low as possible without any buzzes... Since every player applies different amount of strenght when plucking the strings it is impossible to set the action precisely to each player's will. The Spanish builder Fleta, had come up with this genial idea which consists of pushing the bone more or less into the groove on the bridge. The player would set the action to his liking and then either cut off the excess or keep it intact in case he decided to lower or raise the action depending on humidity conditions etc.

650 mm or 640 mm?
Keep the following rule at hand: If the distance between the tip of your thumb and the tip of your little finger is equal or less than 9 in. when fully stretched, use 640 mm. In stringed instrument performance, a single millimeter can mean the difference between playing effortlessly or the exact opposite.

Optional Velvet guitar cover (USD 35)

  • PROTECTIVE GEAR
These attractive hand sawn velvet guitar covers are very useful if you like to leave your instrument out of the case for long stretches of time. They are a great solution to avoid scratches during practice from the friction of buttons with the finish. To use it while playing, use it in the position shown to the right.

These are hand sawn by the wife of my Leather cases embosser.
