I have
only come about this type of Sinker Redwood on a couple of occasions and
it never ceases to surprise how stunning the wood can be when mother nature
has kept it in its womb for centuries. Sinker redwoods are actually semi
fossilized woods... The fossilization had just begun but the small presence
of crystals makes it an extremely glassy wood that pushes a superbly clear,
powerful sound, and a mature voice that can hardly be challenged by other
species. In this particular case, the wood presents a fascinating, dark
brown with black striping color that I was able to bookmatch to perfection
and create an amazing top crowned by the most beautiful concentric Tahitian
Mother of pearl and Abalone. The Brazilian Rosewood is from near Cascavel,
Brazil, and has been air drying for over 120 years. Perfectly bookmatched
with a tap tone to die for. Cavatina a nd Asturias show her amazing clarity
in each voice. The bass is perfectly defined, the trebles are clear and
penetrating and the mid ranges close the gap between the two extremes to
perfection. Playing on the slim 640 action is swift and natural. The hand
never feels stressed and you become one with the guitar only seconds into
the playing. |
