The first time that a poll was taken to find out who was the favorite composer of all times, happened around 1830. In this poll, 2 results were given: one based on votes made among musicians and one based on votes among the general public. The favorite among the public was a composer whose name is totally insignificant and who did not transcend his time. The second on that list though, was quite a big gun: Beethoven. The favorite amongst the musicians was JS Bach who won by an avalanche and Beethoven came in second..... I say this because I needed to play Bach the minute I had this amazing lady in my hands. The exceptional separation of voices, definition of the bas and clarity of the trebles, set her apart and make her royalty to deal with the music of the greatest composer who ever lived. The opposing counterpoint in the Bourre', E-F#-G  Vs  G-F#-E, that opens the majestic duel between the bass and the treble in this monumental piece shows the power of this instrument to use voices when these are not merely used to create a base and a moving line on top, but a simultaneous sequence of voices that need full attention and create a wonderful polyphony to the trained ear. This Spruce top delivers exactly that type of performance. In the more melodious Air, the sweet personality of this lady shines. With the world famous melody always keeping center stage as the bass pedal accompanies relentlessly.
The miracle is generated by the masterful use of a gorgeous 94 years air dried set of Brazilian rosewood from Minas (Southern Brazil) matched with an Alpine spruce top that complements the darks sounding tropical wood to perfection. The detailing and beauty in every detail will keep your eyes entertained for long stretches of time and you will cherish this guitar for many decades to come.

Italian Alpine Spruce is the highest growing tree on the planet. It grows at or above 1,800 meters where the oxygen is rarefied. This makes the grain much tighter resulting in a strong reverberating tone wood. This is the species Stradivarius used for his legendary violins. Double top preparation
The doble tapa, was developed and introduced by  Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. The word "Tapa" in Spanish translates to top in English but it refers to the back of the instrument. Therefore, Contreras doble tapa is actually a "Double back". The picture at the left shows how the second top is glued to the first one using acrylic tensors.
Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.
The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. Lattice delivers a lot of volume a tremendous clear.
