Brazilian Rosewood B&S, Hauser braced 280 year old Sinker Redwood Top. 640mm, African Padauk bindings. Ebony fingerboard, pearl details on Ebony bridge, wood handmade rosette and headplate. Luxury hand crafted marquetry on all sides. Pearl marker on 7, Special Cutaway, Gold plated carved tuners. Embossed Leather case included. Gorgeous!
This Brazilian ROsewood beauty is a tremendously beautiful concert guitar with a voice that allows her to excel in all types of repertoire. Probably, one of the most striking Sinker Redwood top guitars I ever built. Sober, classical, yet full of the most amazing detailings that make her a part of guitar Royalty.  I used a gorgeous set of Brazilian rosewood that my friend Joao shipped from Mato Grosso, Brazil a few months ago. It is extracted from an enormous farm (Fazenda) that sells the wood from its huge aged stock. The color is dark brown with multi colored stripes in between that range from green to red. It reminds em of South American Winter sunsets. The grain is tight, dense and wonderfully bookmatched. I decorated the sides using African Padauk and the most exquisite handmade marquetry. The 2 woods complement each other wonderfully..... The 280 years aged Sinker redwood top contrast beautifully with the Pearl inlay/wood rosette. I also added Pearl details to the bridge and headstock. Redwoods are the largest living creatures on Earth. They have been around since the time of the dinosaurs and some living trees are over 5,000 years old. The wood adds a Mystique to the instrument that is very hard to put into words. The maturity of the sound produced by Redwood is marvelous.
Una Limosna
Notice how the instrument marks the "knocking" pedal in Barrios' Una Limosna"  to perfection. When the third string is called in, she performs like few guitars do.
The Knocking appears in the very first measure and will never go away. It is represented by the 2 double eight notes which will play the counterpoint rhythmic melody to the tremolo main melody.

The sound she produces is deep, clear and mature. The epic Barrios Mangore "Una Limosna por el amor de Dios" blossoms and the bass seems to never decays. At the same time, the melody flows majestically through the tremolo and the trebles ring clear and crispy. The third string which is often the Achilles' heel on guitars, is  clear sounding and powerful  on this amazing Hauser. The same can be said of the 5th and 4th strings: Outstanding ! Counterpoint is natural and easy to follow thanks to the first class separation of voices she possesses. The 640mm action with the 16" radius never challenges the left hand beyond her natural capabilities and the performer never accumulates stress or pain. You will NEVER find a beauty like this at such a price. Do not let her go !

The 9 braces Hauser fan is the most thoroughly tested fan brace setup on the planet. It is the result of many years of experimenting. It is braced on Torres 4 fan brace design. The braces act as sound vibrations highways...they carry the vibration of each string to a specific spot on the soundboard. If you put your fingers on the soundboard as you play the 6th string for instance, you will feel the upper portion of the top vibrate with more power than the rest of the top.  You will be able to feel this vibrations with your fingertips all the way to the 4th strings. It is harder to feel the vibration caused by the treble strings. The variations on the 9 braces fan is enormous. Luthier taylor each fan to achieve a specific sound and match the instrument with the rest of the woods used in the construction. Above to the left is a 9 braces all Spruce fan. I often use a mixture of Cedar, Spruce and Mahogany to match different wood combinations.

650 mm or 640 mm?
Keep the following rule at hand: If the distance between the tip of your thumb and the tip of your little finger is equal or less than 9 in. when fully stretched, use 640 mm

Sinker logs

Sinker logs, are pulled from the bottom of lakes and rivers. Sometimes, scuba divers are needed to achieve the extraction.  Most of these logs are hundreds of years old (In one of the pictures above, you can see that the tree was cut with an hatchet). Due to a series of factors (The logs were too big and heavy to be pulled out of the rivers or the logs were caught by currents and were sucked to the bottom)  these logs were trapped by the muddy buttons of these water beds and this created like a time capsule where the wood was preserved in fantastic humidity conditions that made the wood season in a slow natural way during many centuries. Some of the logs are selected for musical instruments construction. The sound that these woods produce is unique and the grain has a beautiful coloration that changes according to the type of mud present in the water bed.
