Highly Figured African Walnut B&S Double top (Contreras style V1), "THE ANACONDA", Curly Sinker Redwood Top+Sinker Redwood Double top, Bird's eye Maple bindings, Brazilian rosewood Burl rosette, detailings on the Ebony violin tie, bridge, headplate, center headplate & backstrip. 16" radiused fingerboard, 640mm fret spacing. I was literally counting the hours to finally have this amazing instrument in my hands. It took my children 2 seconds to baptize her "The Anaconda". It is fun because it was in the Paraguayan news that a huge 12 meters Anaconda was caught in a fisherman's net a few weeks back... The beauty of the grain on this Walnut is simply breathtaking. It reflects the light differently depending on how you move around her or depending on the light source location. She's got the texture and colors of the famous American reptile. Deep brown orange touches here and there give the back an astonishing look. I was able to get a hold of 4 similar sets for this and future projects. I indulged in using a beautiful and rare set of Curly Sinker Redwood for the top. It combines perfectly with the back and sides. The African Walnut fingerboard continues the back and sides motif on the neck and all the parts merge in what I call a PERFECT Instrument! I bookmatched Walnut for the violin tie and the headstock, used it in the armrest and used every luthery artistic detail to make her the most beautiful guitar in the world. The subtle bird's eye Maple bindings make her lines delicate and speak of beauty. The sound she possesses is the only thing that can compete with her beauty. The most amazing sustain that allows the bass line to stand out magnificently while the trebles do their work of keeping the melody in centersatge. The Flamenco bass line in Asturias booms as the piece progresses... the player feels as though the capabilities of the instrument are endless. The crisp mid section of the prelude brings about her melodic and contrapuntal virtues. She's on fire !!

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard. The standard fingerboard is flat.

The double top VARIATION 1, was developed and introduced by Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. In this Variation of the Double top, a second top (Cedar, Image below) is located halfway between the main top and the back. This top vibrates a fraction of a second after the first one creating an immense sustain and punch.
