Highly figured and rare Sri Lanka Macassar Ebony B&S, Cedar top, Gabon Ebony bindings, radiused fingerboard, armrest, violin tie  and bridge.  640mm fret spacing. Cutaway. Embossed leather case included. Spectacular !!!

This Cutaway is without a doubt one of the most spectacular guitars of its kind ever built. The project was inspired by the fabulous Sri Lanka Macassar Ebony I received less than 40 days ago from Colombo. Ariesen, my Macassar supplies, sent me 3 spectacular sets of back and sides of the species and this is one of them (you can see the other 2 sets in being offered this week) .  It s simply amazing both from an aesthetical point of view and from a sound perspective. The figure resembles the wings of a peacock and some of the most striking South East Asian burls. The tap tone promised to be able to create a fast sounding babe and that is exactly what it did. The sound on this Cedar top is unbelievable. You will never guess it's a cutaway such is the power that emanates from the sound hole. The rest of the work was deciding on the art work to decorate every corner of this masterpiece and the work was grand and worth every minute it took to complete.
Barrios'  Una Limosna  takes you to another Universe when playing on her. The deep, intimate yet powerful bass line contrasts majestically with the singing tremolo. Notice the one in a million third string in the counterpoint section shining like few third strings I ever heard and the 6th string adding a touch of unbelievable mystery when the B is played on the 7th fret towards the end of the section.... Simply Outstanding !! Radiused Gabon ebony bindings, armrest and violin tie add the luxury and sobriety touches to an already shining star. 640 mm fret separation makes her a pleasure to play and you will be the owner of a one in a million instrument, one that will motivate you into playing and performing A LOT better.

The Violin tie: The tailpiece on a guitar is called for just as it is on every other member of the strings family (violin, etc.). When the first classical
guitars were built, gut strings were the norm... the tension on these was nothing compared to modern nylon strings. A tailpiece was redundant...
Anchoring the strings to the lower bout meet point, which is one of the sturdiest parts of the instrument, allows the builder to thin the top more
allowing for  a much bigger sound and not recur to the use of carbon fiber or other non wood materials that give the classical guitar a "plastic sound. ".

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.

The hand embossed leather case is a work of art on its own right. Built by one of a handful of very talented leather embossers in Latin America.
Its built following my specifications for the interior to fit Bellucci guitars like a glove. All Plush interior, key and accessories compartment.

640mm or 650 mm?
Regarding 650mm or 640 mm fingerboard fret spacing, keep the following rule at hand: If the distance between the tip of your thumb and the tip of your little finger is equal or less than 9 in. when fully stretched, use 640 mm. Adapting from one scale to the other takes no adaptation
