Here is a tremendous instrument designed to make the most beautiful music and please the eye beyond your wildest dreams. A gorgeous set of Brazilian rosewood from Minas Gerais (Brazil) was used for the back and sides and a second back was used for the DOBLE TAPA. I matched her with a beautiful set of Alpine spruce and decorated her to rank among the most beautiful instruments on the planet. A French Polynesia mother of pearl rosette, master inlay radiused fingerboard and inlay ebony tuners buttons decorate this queen to the point where you will not be able to keep your eyes off her. It takes an immense amount of time for a master inlay artist to choose the pieces, cut them and route the fingerboard for insertion...let alone the tuners buttons. I decided to mount an adjustable truss rod to please the widest amount of players possible. I leave it up to you whether to have a violin tie and or sounport(s) mounted. I definitely recommend both because they make the guitar work freely towards sound while allowing the sound to project omnidirectionally instead of mono directionally. The bass on this babe is astounding. I did not use the nail on the thumb to create a deeper contrast and show the guttural qualities of the bass voices. Amazing to say the least. The trebles shine like the best and the double top allows for a wonderful sustain and projection that will give you an amazing edge especially on stage. The Doble tapa (Contreras style) was first introduced by Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and which reached its peak in the 80s. The word "Tapa" in Spanish translates to top in English but it refers to the back of the instrument. Therefore, Contreras doble tapa is actually a "Double back". I improved on the system by using a second back of Brazilian rosewood instead of Cedar and using lighter built pine transverse struts. Due to my geographical location, Brazilian rosewood is much cheaper to get than it would have been for Contreras. That is why I can afford to offer a doble tapa made entirely with Brazilian rosewood. This delivers a great response and much sturdiness to the back and sides which in turn enhances the full vibration to the top. The result is a full sound rich with innumerable harmonics and an AMAZING presence. I recommend you add the upper and/or lower bout soundport(s). The guitar is engineered to work as it is but I know that the add on will enhance the sound even more. |
