My wood supplier
in Brazil mailed me a picture of an extremely rare set of Brazilian rosewood.
As soon as I received it, I asked him to Fedex the set out immediately
! Below is the picture of the set I took in my studio 15 minutes after
receiving it from Brazil.
A few days later we were already
working on the project. The rosette alone took us 4 days to make... wood
from 4 different cuts were used to achieve the right mix of colors and
shades. The Spalted set of Brazilian rosewood is extremely rare and
delicate to work and we had to reduce it from both sides from its original
5.8 mm to the less than 2mm needed for construction.
As construction progresses we could
see this amazing masterpiece come to life. With the Quad top, I knew she
would sound fantastic and I was able to prove it this morning, when she
was out of the lacquering booth and I played the Saltarello. The bass is
very well defined and rings endlessly. The trebles and mid ranges are all
perfectly lined up and bringing out notes in the 3 notes pedal bass of
the piece was extremely easy. The melody is always in centersatge and it
shines marvelously.
Some of the amazing extras on this
babe are the Snakewood bindings, she's intuitive and very easy to play
and her beauty is beyond the realm of words... |
