FABULOUS
!!!
You will be blown away at the beauty and sound that emanates from this Alpine spruce top DOBLE TAPA. A terrific punch that will send shivers through your body accompanied by the greatest separation of voices and clarity a concert player can dream of. Notice how the bass creates an immense reverb upon which the melody shines majestically. Clear penetrating trebles and an immensely vast palette of mid tones and harmonics. Beauty and art are the norm on all my guitars and this Doble tapa is no exception. I used a 92 years air dried Mato Grosso (Brazil) set for the back and sides that has been air drying since the times of WW II. I added a Sri Lanka Macassar Ebony wood for the bridge to add a touch of exclusivity to this Queen. A gorgeous Russian rosette along with luxury matching trims and ebony bindings add the spectacular touches appropriate for a beauty of this caliber. 640 fret spacing on a radiused ebony fingerboard make make the left hand displacements swift and easy and stopping the notes is EASY. I recommend you add the upper and/or lower bout soundport(s). The guitar is engineered to work as it is but I know that the add on will enhance the sound even more. I do not always make these to please as many potential players as possible. BIG SOUNDING GUITAR! |
The Doble tapa (Contreras style) was first introduced by Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and which reached its peak in the 80s. The word "Tapa" in Spanish translates to top in English but it refers to the back of the instrument. Therefore, Contreras doble tapa is actually a "Double back". I improved on the system by using a second back of Brazilian rosewood instead of Cedar and using lighter built pine transverse struts. Due to my geographical location, Brazilian rosewood is much cheaper to get than it would have been for Contreras. That is why I can afford to offer a doble tapa made entirely with Brazilian rosewood. This delivers a great response and much sturdiness to the back and sides which in turn enhances the full vibration to the top. The result is a full sound rich with innumerable harmonics and an AMAZING presence. Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The hand embossed leather case
is a work of art on its own right. Built by one of a handful of very talented
leather embossers in Latin America.
