I cannot hide my big secret love for cutaways. I say secret because whether we want to admit it or not, they make much more sense than standard classical. The cutaway is the longest lasting most important advance in guitar construction. Unlike the cheap factory made Japanese/European relatives, concert cutaways sound as loud and sometimes even louder that their full body classical counterparts. That is because handmade construction allows the builder to make adaptations and apply changes to each single guitar. This Cutaway has some of the best basses and vibratos I ever heard, The trebles are well balanced and shine with a crystalline set of high harmonics. Beautiful ! The 90 years air dried Brazilian rosewood from Minas Gerais (Brazil) is spectacular as is the Lattice braced Alpine spruce I married this babe to. All united by the most refined marquetry. Using the best and most exotic woods for the armrest, violin tie and armrest. I mounted a 4-Band Artec Equalizer/pickup-tuner to complete because most cutaway owners like to join ensembles and even por groups and want to be " amplifiable" . The onboard tuner though is the greatest plus of the system. Playability: Simply the BEST on the 640mm radiused neck. The lower soundport allows the guitar to project in all directions more fully while allowing the highest frequencies to come out easily. A truly gorgeous instrument for the player that wants a classical instrument with an edge.. |
