I have been counting the hours this week expecting this BEAUTY to come out of the lacquering booth and set her up for playing. Every expectation was not only met but it was surpassed by far. The 90 years air dried figured Brazilian rosewood, matched with a Canadian cedar double top pushes sound like few guitars I remember. Simply AMAZING. The deepes/clearest basses that send huge waves of vibration through the player's body and clear , singing trebles that put the melody in the center spot... Asturias acquires a new magnitude and the counterpoint between the 4th, 5th and sixth strings is quite unbelievable with reference to the accompanying second string keeping the melody floating around B.... A set of maple to define the curves on this babe and a few artistic touches to the bridge, armrest and violin tie by Dani, one of my master Luthiers and master carvers. I indulged in both the violin tie and the armrest because they allow the top to vibrate to it's full potential (almost 30% more power) and the soundport to allow the huge amount of sound to fill the room FULLY. Double top is the way 99 percent of the guitars of the 21st century will be built. The 2 tops vibrate at a difference in time that puts them out of each other's frequency thus generating a whole new set of frqencies...This translates in great sustain, volume and projection to the back and sides as well as in the front. Yes, Unlike the traditional guitar systems, Double tops are emanate to make the guitar emanate omnidirectionally like violins, piano, etc. do. This is the Cedar top you were waiting for. |
