Masterpiece !
The
beauty and sound of this Brazilian rosewood concert beauty are beyond the
realm of words. The 100 + year air dried Brazilian rosewood set was
shipped from Minas Gerais at the end of August. It has been air drying
since approximately 1911. World War I was raging when this set started
drying. That's how old it is! The age of the set shows in the mature
voice, the deep and powerful crystal clear trebles and an amazing array
of mid tones and harmonics. The bass is round, powerful and sustained.
The colors and shades of brown with black, red, orange and yellow are spectacular
making it a one in a million set. In the center of the back she presents
a deep orange with deep red coloration that seems to be the fire emanating
from the depths of the crater of an erupting volcano. Simply spectacular!
Add to this the 280 years old Sinker redwood top and you have a sensational
instrument with a voice that puts her in a league of her own. Cavatina
flows majestic and the voices are well balanced and respond to the right
hand changes in the angle of attack immediately to offer an immense array
of color tones to the performer. Details such as the marvelous luxury detailing
all around her body, bridge, headstock (double headplate), lining and purflings,
make her an amazing work of art with details that will sweeten your sight
at every glance. The rosette is handmade in Tula, Russia.. The 640mm radiused
fingerboard makes playing much more natural. Passing from one position
to the next is swift and A LOT easier than on conventional flat action.
To anyone who plays Cavatina, let me say that that those tricky barres
are easy and natural to play on this perfectly carved action at just 3.7mm
at fret 12. The price is simply ridiculous and is adapted to the
difficult economical times. The "normal" price of this guitar is around
3,100 US$. Do not let this babe pass you by. |
