TIGERWOOD B&S  AMAZING !!
What an amazing guitar !! I just could not believe the clarity of the trebles and the massive power and beauty of the bass on this Tigerwood Masterpiece ! As I play the Bach prelude I feel the amazing bass fill the studio every time I pluck it. Notice how the F# halfway through the video played on the 6th seems to have a life of its own... The clarity of the melody on the other hand, is perfect ! Tigerwood, known in Latin America as Goncalo Alves, is a wonderful wood that first attracted my attention in 2004. I built one guitar using the wood and I was blown away. I am happy to have decided to use it extensively as of now because with the new building techniques I am implementing, the wood eclipses much better known species such as Brazilian rose. The punch is impressive and the beauty of the wood is simply put AMAZING I used Thai Amboina burl to make several parts of the decoration: the center strip on the headstock, the armrest, violin tie and the detailing on the Walnut bridge. I used Bloodwood to dramatize the cutaway lines and used a Roman style handmade Russian rosette to crown her like the Queen that she is.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.

The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. Lattice delivers a lot of volume a tremendous clarity.

Tigerwood, Known in Latin America as Goncalo Alves is a Brazilian hardwood. The similarity to the fur of a Bengal tiger is responsible for the eloquent name. The wood's color deepens with exposure and age. Two species are usually listed as sources for Tigerwood: Astronium fraxinifolium and Astronium graveolens. All trees grow in Tropical forests; Brazil is a major exporter of this wood.
