80 years old Brazilian
rosewood B&S. Doubletop (Nomex core) Sinker redwood (approx. 240 years
old), 640mm, radius, armrest, violin tie, sound port, bronze marquetry.

Sinker logs
like the ones above, are pulled from the bottom of lakes and rivers. Sometimes,
scuba divers are needed to achieve the extraction. Most of these
logs are hundreds of years old (In one of the pictures above, you can see
that the tree was cut with an hatchet). Due to a series of factors (The
logs were too big and heavy to be pulled out of the rivers or the logs
were caught by currents and were sucked to the bottom) these logs
were trapped by the muddy buttons of these water beds and this created
like a time capsule where the wood was preserved in fantastic humidity
conditions that made the wood season in a slow natural way during many
centuries. Some of the logs are selected for musical instruments construction.
The sound that these woods produce is unique and the grain has a beautiful
coloration that changes according to the type of mud present in the water
bed.

you were dreaming about. She is simply AMAZING !!! Beauty and sound beyond
belief... simply marvelous. The Brazilian rosewood was shipped from Rio
about a month go and I decided to couple it with a fantastic set
of Sinker redwood which has been aging for over 200 years.... The combination
is perfect. I wanted a BIG sound so I decided for a doubletop with Nomex
core. I wanted her to be Royal so I added glorious touches of bronze in
the marquetry. I bet on beauty so I used italian pine for teh neck with
Hawaiian Koa as reinforcement. Added a steel truss rod just in case. The
sound is Unbelievable... It fills my studio as each note is projected
majestically. As I play Barrios' Una Limosna, the depth of sound generated
by the Brazilian with touches of human quality supplied by the sinker make
my soul vibrate... the depth of each voice and the clarity is simply magic.
Playing this masterpiece is very intuitive... you feel as if you always
played her. The counterpoint gains a whole new light and each string
has a thrilling personality. Again, she had to be 640mm the perfect size
with radius... Heaven !
