Brazilian rosewood B&S, LATTICE braced Canadian Cedar top. 640mm,
radius, armrest, violin tie, soundport. Magnificent ! !
This gorgeous Cedar top was built between November 24 and today, December 9. She's literally fresh out of lacquering. All her qualities, both aural and aesthetical are simply magnificent. A wonderful set of Brazilian rose from Rio that has air dried for approximately 92 years. Tap tone and tight grain to deliver the best sound. I made her an Lattice to deliver the most brilliant sound possible. Western redcedar adds the sweetness to a shining sound. A huge amount of overtones and a superb separation of voices sets this babe apart from the rest. Ebony bindings, armrest and violin tie ... 2 colors on the headstock and the most delicate marquetry imaginable crowned by a Russian rosette. Swift action and ease of play are the norm on all my concert instruments, with the 640mm scale making everything more " natural for the LH". An A+ babe from every angle. |
The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. As you see from the picture above, the thinned area is approximately 1.2 mm thick (VS 2-2.5 in the standard thinning techniques). Lattice delivers a lot of volume (approximately 21 dbs more) and wonderfully clear trebles 640mm or 650 mm?
Radiused or flat fingerboard?
