Aged Brazilian rosewood B&S,  LATTICE braced Alpine spruce top. 640mm, radius, armrest, violin tie, soundport, leather embossed case. SPECTACULAR ! "Free Willy"
Willy guitar
The beauty of sound and artistry in the construction of this concert babe are simply outstanding.  My children baptized her "Free Willy" the minute they saw the amazing figure of the 90 years old Brazilian rosewood. Panda had already been taken a few weeks ago by another amazing beauty but we were also tempted to call her Panda.
Beautiful balanced sound with a wide range of harmonics and mid tones that make it a pleasure to play. Fast and intuitive response, I felt at home playing her a few seconds into the piece. The bass creates a wonderful harmonic background onto which the Alpine spruce enhanced trebles shine like the morning sun...
A splendid rosette with matching luxury marquetry from  France make her a beautiful lady worth looking at from every angle.
A true Masterpiece from every angle.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?

Italian Alpine spruce grows at extremely high altitudes in very cold environment. This slows the growth making the fibers tight and musically very resonant.  A beautiful range of sound with a fast response. Clear trebles and a reverberating bass that makes the whole body vibrate.

The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. As you see from the picture above, the thinned area is approximately 1.2 mm thick (VS 2-2.5 in the standard thinning techniques). Lattice delivers a lot of volume (approximately 21 dbs more) and wonderfully clear trebles

640mm or 650 mm?
Regarding 650mm or 640 mm guitar construction, keep the following rule at hand: If the distance between the tip of your thumb and the tip of your little finger is equal or less than 9 in. when fully stretched, use 640 mm. Adapting from one scale to the other takes no time at all.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.
