Comments : I started working on La Catedral one month ago and then I came across your web site. It has been very helpful! Although I prefer not to use open strings unless really necessary (or when the tone really fits the music), you have inspired me to change my fingerings a several places! Guitar experience:

Comments : This website contains dream material for any guitarist. It has inspiried me to play even harder. I am mostly self taught and it's little tips and technique hints here-and-there that go a long way to improve my playing. Please keep your site going - it has and will continue to inspire many, I am sure. Just an extra note - My work as an Computer Scientest involves much programming and web design. I have some ideas for improving some features of your site if you care to email. Regards, Wal Guitar experience:

Comments : The insights to guitar playing on this site are great. I particulary liked your pice on performing. Most people do not know much of the guitar repertoire and enjoy Romanza, Lagrima, and other easier pieces as much as more difficult works. When I realized this, I was much more apt to play in front of people (I am an amateur). Guitar experience:

I never thought that I'd find a "gold mine"in the internet.I am only using
a public compluter, you know. I am a poor community volunteer who used
to teach music in the elementary school. I have been working with the poorest
of the poor in our country full time and have set aside guitar playing.
When I found your website, I felt I have to start finding more time again
for the guitar. This short note is a "thank you" from the heart that someone
like you thought of giving so much to people who love music. Your music
scores, the lessons, the 22 selected classical pieces...everything in your
website is a gift to any musician. If I can't help support your website
financially, I will ask people who can afford to send their donations.
With your website, you are contributing a lot not only to creating beauty
in the world but above all to building peace.

Comments : Tarrega is only one of my favourites BTW. I have only recently, (last year) been delving into the classical guitar arena. I am completely infatuated with this wonderful sounding instrument. I have been into some heavy music in the past, (a lot of electric, hardcore sounds) I am now a student of the classical guitar. I love flamenco style as well. I am struggling with the fact I have waited this long to play this way, (I am 33 now) I aspire to do great things with this instrument. Thank you for your fantastic site. Guitar experience:

Comments : I would just like to say that as a beginning classical guitar player, this is the best internet resource for classical guitar players that I have found yet! It's excellent. For years (2) I've played just acoustic guitar using the "baseball bat" left hand position, and I'm running into a lot of problems now! :s But the technique pages about the anatomy of the arms, wrists, hands is really going to help with getting myself straight. Thanks and God Bless you! Guitar experience:

Comments : Lovely web site! I was blessed to attend a master class with Abel Carlevaro in Dallas, TX in 1978 (I think it was) at Southern Methodist University. I think you must feel it different. I play some parts much faster and i am much nearer to the manuscript than the Segovia edition. Comments : Great site. You opened up a new world when I read try i-a instead of i-m in scales. I can't believe I didn't think of that. But, like you said, all the great ones say i-m so I either do it that way or I'm a failure, right? Nonsense, of course. Again, thanks for the great site. Comments : Ciao Renato!!! So bene che leggi e parli l'italiano. Affettuosamente, Luigi Guitar experience:

Comments : Ah so much to learn, i am just training the Spanish Romance, i am gonna stuck with that piece until someone tells me it's perfect and that not even Pepe Romero could play it better and learn the tremolo to that level that "Recuerdos de la Alhambre" does not sound so choppy but just a clean vibration, (i am the one of the less fortunate without a teacher and only internet tought me the basics, just goto learn to read the scores, I think ill need time, but ill make it) Thanks to you i am sure one day i'll be one of those masters of guitar like Tarrega, Segovia, Paco De Lucia. P.S. Even tough i am a selftought guitarist with 2 years experience playing on a cheap guitar, i still think my Spanish Romance sounds better then yours ;-) Guitar experience:

Comments : inspiring to read something that makes sense regarding technique, which sadly too many tutor books do not even mention,,,,,eg.slow accurate practise, also i believe too many people are struggling with huge guitars and need proper scaled models that sound decent,,,,especially for adults with small hands, there is a limit to retching,,,,before it becomes ludicrous and out of whack trying to do a sequence of stretches when there is such a discrepancy of hand sizes,,imagine if we could only go skating if we all had to wear size (6) small ladies in nz.shoes........slow accurate practise,,,,can be also detailed down to examples and how to join up the bars,,and then slowly getting the music up to tempo,,,,,i believe this small factor and given in more detail is also a huge contributing factor to professional concert style performance that hugely diminishes nervousness,,,,,,,thank you Guitar experience:

Comments : Dear Renato, I would just like to say that you've created a wonderful website for classical guitarists, or should I say, those who aspire to be the best they can be (within his or her given constraints of time, family priorities, or even limitations of raw talent). I must also say I personally believe I would be so fortunate to have you as a teacher. I say this not only because you've mastered the guitar but also because your philosophy strikes a resonant chord with me. At one time, in my early 20s, I felt that classical guitar was my passion and future but the economic realities made me choose a different career. And once married and with wonderful children, the guitar and I were at best old but distant friends. Now I am in my 40s, and my passion for the guitar is renewed (thought never truly gone). With small children I don't have much time to devote to practice, but I'm nonetheless determined to be the best guitarist I can be with the talent bestowed upon me. My only goal is to play the pieces I love with precision and with the interpretation of a very skilled and knowledgeable musician. That's it. I love the classical guitar. Well, I wish continued success in your endeavors. May God bless you. Warm regards, Mike Gephart Tuesday, November

Comments : Hi. I stumbled upon this site when looking for a quote from Augustin Barrios, and I am very impressed by the contents. I play guitar mainly for my own enjoyment, I started doing it some 8 years ago when nearing the end of highschool, but I stopped taking lessons when I got into university. Sometimes I make an effort to practice a bit more, and I do play most days. Thank you for your site, it is a good reference I am recommending to a few friends (not many play guitar :( PS: The only Barrios compositions I know are from a recording by John Williams, (and I lost the CD,) so I placed Beethoven (whom I know better) as my favourite. and your excellently maintained web-site, or the fact that you were good
enough to go to the effort of e-mailing my friend a very surprising e-mail,
for not everyone in your position has such high regard of his fans and
students. I never sign the guestbooks of any site until today - when i
have found a person who really is a real person. Thank you for taking the
time to read this as i know you will, and may your dreams come true.

Comments : I have a Contreras Carlevaro as well. It is superb - the sound rich, the clarity outstanding and (by guitar standards) it is loud. However, I think its most important attribute is its projection quality - it really does reach the back of medium size venues, seating perhaps 250, without effort or amplification, and I don't think that is due simply to volume but rather the focus of the sound. Its vintage is 1986. Two interesting points about it: first, it has no soundhole or rose; second, the saddle is made of rosewood, which maybe accounts for the richness of sound. I am pleased to come across another owner of one of these instruments - there are not many of us. Best wishes Robert Wednesday,
