Listen how, in my interpretation of Asturias, the relentless counterpoint between the bass strings and the second string B is suddenly taken to the backseat by the entrance of the most beautiful and deep 6th string. Lattice bracing never ceases to surprise me . The clarity of each note is simply unique. The notes carry a dosage of purity that other types of bracings cannot compete with. The fabulous 90 years old set of Rio de Janeiro Brazilian rosewood is simply magnificent. I matched it with a top notch Canadian cedar top. The result is this generous instrument full of sound. She is LOUS and I mean REAL LOUD! I used a Russian rosette to decorate the sound hole and luxury marquetry to bring all the parts together. She is art from every angle. I enjoyed playing Asturias on this babe. The sound is full and the player feels surrounded by music. The guitar even sends powerful vibrations to the sternum. I am all in favor of the soundport because it allows for very high frequencies to find a way out and at the same time provides with projection in multi-directions. Asturias was a totally new experience this time !! The armrest is simply obvious since the tops of Lattice and double top concert guitars are reduced (thinned) to less than 1 mm. The tendons in the forearm are also better angled to work more efficiently. Finally, the violin tie, it is the logical follow up on the violin tradition where no strain in anchoring is ever applied to the top. 640mm and a radiused ebony neck has become my standard because of the immense difference it does to the playing of the performer. An A++ guitar. |
