Franz Xaver Gruber Silent Night TAB

Franz Xaver Gruber, "Silent Night" (TAB)

Transcription and Fingering: Renato Bellucci

Franz Xaver Gruber composed Silent Night in Arnsdorf, Austria around the year 1770. The words were added about 100 years later. This is the most popular Christmas tune in existance. The words have been translated to virtually every language spoken (even latin and several tribal dialects).

Silent Night: ca. 1816

Silent night Holy night

All is calm all is bright

'Round yon virgin Mother and Child

Holy infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night,

Shepherds quake at the sight.

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heav'nly hosts sing Alleluia;

Christ the Savior is born;

Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, holy night,

Son of God, love's pure light.

Radiant beams from Thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth;

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
