I struck gold again ! As if Tropical woods were not stunning enough, sometimes, they carry peculiarities that are only visible when the instrument is finished (lacquered). Such is the case with this amazing Tasmanian Blackwood Doubletop. As soon as lacquering was finished and the instrument was polished, a stunning metallic like reflection appeared that makes her simply irresistible. It is as if the wood captured the surrounding light, amplified it and reflected it back adding a myriad spectacular reflections. This has only happened three times since I build guitars. In other words, it is not a feature that can be requested on custom order. Everything looks the same when you look at the wood in its natural state but something (I presume it is the way the wood fibers are oriented) changes the overall appearance when the instrument is finished. I played Romance to show off her amazing expressiveness and power. Sustain is top notch and when she needs to produce a passionate vibrato she's unbeatable. Aggressive and with vibrant trebles when contrast is called in for... Everybody present was struck by the power and beauty she created (namely my wife and 2 of my daughters). The Tahitian Mother of pearl rosette alone took 6 days to make. Luxury handmade mosaic marquetry along with African Padauk were used to decorate her lines. If an instrument was ever EASY to play, this is the one, Tremendously instinctive and natural to both hands. An A++ instrument.
