Whenever I receive a stunning set of wood my imagination starts wandering and I begin to envision some amazing instruments. It comes really easy to me and I literally daydream with these images for a few minutes and, minutes after, I am sifting through my woods collection selecting all the parts for the construction of what I believe will be a one-in-a-million guitar.. The figure on the B&S of this Zebrawood guitar is simply amazing. Mother nature showed off what she is capable of and the skilled Luthery involved in the construction made every stripe and every swirl come to life with grandeur. The marquetry took almost 100 hours to complete. Abalone was carefully added to the wood mosaic rosette and African Padauk bindings and handmade linings decorate every single line and curve. The Ebony bridge is also crowned with Papua Abalone so as to enhance her Royal character. Her sound is simply unbelievable. Playing Asturias was a treat. I could feel the whole instrument vibrate majestically putting out some marvelous basses and allowing for great ease of play and a fast as well as a swift action. In Asturias the mid range and trebles sing clearly throughout and I could feel the strings, returning immediately under my fingertips for the next plucking of the right hand. That's how fast she is. In Barrios' Mangoré "Una Limosna por el amor de Dios", She brings out all her poetry and immense lyrical qualities. She is very easy to play and the ebony armrest helps position the forearm at just the right angle to augment relaxation and allow for faster playing when the music requires it. The neck is beautifully shaped and I feel very comfortable throughout the scale. This Zebrawood guitar is truly an instrument for the ages. S.D.G.
