Paraguayan Nights, Gloria del Paraguay, Magalí Chase & Renato Bellucci in San Bernardino

Paraguayan Nights, Gloria del Paraguay, Magalí Chase & Renato Bellucci in San Bernardino

Divine Providence has its amazing way of bringing people together. It all started a few months ago. Nicolás Chase, an old friend from school, called me to share the great news that Magali, his daughter, had been selected at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world, to pursue her dream to become a professional singer, a dream that became a reality in late 2017 when Magalí received her BM in Vocal Performance from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Nicolás trusted me to help him and Magali "draw" the shape that her musical career should start acquiring as of now. Cornerstone to get the project  rolling, was Nicolás idea to get together at my San Bernardino residence with his family and mine and bringing in the legendary Paraguayan singer Gloria del Paraguay, considered to be one of Paraguay's all-time greatest artists together with such giants as Barrios Mangoré, José Asunción Flores, Luis Alberto del Paraná and Agustín Roa Bastos. Literally, Paraguayan Royalty. As Nicolás and I were working around a juicy barbecue and getting up to date with the latest happenings in our lives, the girls, Josefina, Magali, Belen, Chiara, Daniela and Gloria were "warming up the engines" so that we could share our musical dreams during dinner once Nicolás' "asado" was ready to be served. It was a magical night. Last night in San Bernardino, we jotted down the plans for a world tour that will take Gloria, Magalí and I to play some of the greatest venues the world has to offer for as eminent and illustrious audiences as Pope Francis himself.

It is during such nights of amazing Grace that my 1885 guitar, owned by legendary Paraguayan guitarist Agustin Barrios Mangoré adds an amazing seal to an already unforgettable evening. The guitar has been in my possession for over 15 years and it will be premiered again, after Barrios' last performance with her in 1918, in the concerts we have been jotting down with Gloria and Magalí this memorable evening.

The guitar is tremendously beautiful and I know am holding a treasure knowing that Barrios played many of his beautiful masterpieces on this magical instrument.
