Whenever Cavatina sounds right on the first take, I know I am holding a Masterpiece guitar. For anyone who has learned the work and has dealt with the intricate and demanding barres in the opening section this will sound perfectly clear. She is tremendously easy to play due to the gentle radius, slim neck and low action. I mean, VERY EASY to play.
I used a 100 years air dried set of Brazilian Rosewood from Cascavel, a small town some 300 miles to the East of Asuncion, right across the Paraguay-Brazil border. It is gorgeous with a rich palette of colors in the grain that go from brown, red, green, orange and black... GORGEOUS.
This very picturesque view of the line (yellow line depicted above) dividing Brazil from Paraguay was taken on "Puente de al Amistad" (Bridge of Friendship). This bridge, that crosses over the Paraná river, is the main access from Paraguay to Brazil and Vice versa. It sees one of the greatest movements of goods on the planet. Goods that move between  Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina (the 3 countries  converge in a few miles radius)  and that pass through Paraguay en route to the most remote locations.  Both legal and clandestine commerce takes place here... small wood boats are used to pass goods from one shore to the other under the "distracted" eye of the border authorities....  Even the US Marines have established a base near Tres Fronteras (three frontiers) because it is such a strategic umbilical point on the planet. Most of the Brazilian rosewood that I sell, passes through this bridge on its way to Asunción. It comes from such locations as Cascavel, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
Tap tone spoke of a master guitar from the very first minute I received her. Uniform throughout the set. Matching it to the Alpine Spruce was perfect and the complementation that the second top made of Sinker Redwood brings to the sound makes her COMPLETE in the player's hands. A fantastic deep orange handmade Russian rosette decorated the center of the soundboard and the most delicate artistry takes care of every inch on this gorgeous concert guitar. Alpine Spruce is the variety used by the Legendary Cremonan violin maker Stradivarius. I heard this phrase more than once in my 40 years career: "Had Stradivarius not used Alpine Spruce for  his violins, we would not know of Stradivarius."
Her sound will capture from the very first notes you play on her because her sound is so reminiscent of the "traditional Spanish sound" that you will not be able to resist

Double top V1

The double top with the 9 braces Hauser fan, was developed and introduced by  Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. In this Variation of the Double top, a second top (Cedar, Image below) is located halfway between the main top and the back. This top vibrates a fraction of a second after the first one creating an immense sustain and punch.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.

Sinker logs

Sinker logs (top #2 ), are pulled from the bottom of lakes and rivers. Sometimes, scuba divers are needed to achieve the extraction.  Most of these logs are hundreds of years old (In one of the pictures above, you can see that the tree was cut with an hatchet). Due to a series of factors (The logs were too big and heavy to be pulled out of the rivers or the logs were caught by currents and were sucked to the bottom)  these logs were trapped by the muddy buttons of these water beds and this created like a time capsule where the wood was preserved in fantastic humidity conditions that made the wood season in a slow natural way during many centuries. Some of the logs are selected for musical instruments construction. The sound that these woods produce is unique and the grain has a beautiful coloration that changes according to the type of mud present in the water bed.

Italian Alpine Spruce is the highest growing tree on the planet. It grows at or above 1,800 meters where the oxygen is rarefied. This makes the grain much tighter resulting in a strong reverberating tone wood. This is the species Stradivarius used for his legendary violins.
