Hello
Renato
I received my guitar today.
I can't believe how quickly it got here.
What a Christmas present !
I was so excited to get it.
It is absolutely beautiful . And
she sounds wonderful. I love the depth and volume of the lower
strings, yet the upper strings have a brightness as well.
Thank you so much!
Have a Happy Holiday Season !

120
year air dried Brazilian Rosewood B&S, Bellucci/Hauser braced Cedar
top Concert guitar. 640mm, 20" Radiused Ebony
fingerboard, Luxury marquetry on all sides, Gold plated carved tuners.
Ebony armrest and decorated bridge, Hawaiian Koa bindings. Lute type Maple
rosette, Indented Cutaway with soundport and double sequential soundport
in the left upper bout. Embossed leather case included. Gorgeous!
I am
stunned at the magnificent sound that my new Da Vinci series guitars
can produce. The amazing sound she produces is reflected in the body several
times and it "explodes" out of the Soundports at an amazing seed with a
power and sustain that conquer me every time. Amazing ! The set of Brazilian
Rosewood is from South Eastern Brazil (Minas Gerais) and it was air dried
for over 120 years in an old demolished fazenda (farm). The set has been
around since the days when humanity had just been introduced to the telegraph...
that is how old it is. And it shows in the mature sound and the perfect
bookmatching. The bass is deep, clear and with a powerful punch that sends
huge vibration to the chest of the player. The response in Spanish and
Romantic music is perfect and the clarity and separation of voices she
displays during Baroque performance is unbeatable. It was a pleasure to
play her for almost one hour this morning. Decorating her was a work
of art in every way... from the handmade marquetry that so elegantly decorates
her lines, passing to the Quilted Maple lute type rosette and the special
cutaway, the skill of luthery is elevated to its highest levels. Finally,
playability is perfect. The left hand is never strained and thanks to the
radiused Ebony fingerboard, the low action at just 3.8mm at fret 12, the
slim neck and eh special cutaway, you will not believe how smooth and easy
she feels.
The fan brace is based on the Hauser
1943 Frame. It incorporates 4 different species of wood: Sinker redwood,
Spruce, Cedar and Mahogany. The sinker Redwood is the transversal strut
that shortens the trebles side to augment the power of the high registers
whilst Cedar and spruce were used on the bass side to augment the power
of and resonance of the bass line. I think I can affirm that she has the
most powerful 6th string I have ever heard and one of the best ringing
trebles you can hope for. Simply amazing. The top was reduced to less than
1 mm towards the edges and just a little over 1 mm towards the bridge area
where I installed a new underbridge system that connects the bridge with
each strut in the fan brace whilst directing each frequency to the right
portion of the top.
650 mm
or 640 mm?
Keep the following
rule at hand: If the distance between the tip of your thumb and the tip
of your little finger is equal or less than 9 in. when fully stretched,
use 640 mm.
Radiused
or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been
around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is
true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas,
violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand
stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to
play a flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom
guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard. The standard
fingerboard is flat.
