Cocobolo
is always one of my favorite tonewoods. This particular set, ranks among
the 10 best sets of wood I have EVER seen, and, to be even more just, I'd
rank this set as top 3 ever. Simply stunning ! The display of artistry
that mother nature puts to display is unbelievable. Amazing Brushes
of Sunset Red, Orange, yellow, Black are mixed in a fantastically bookmatched
pattern and she takes your breath away. I was so looking forward to the
completion of this queen because I knew she would crown 2011 and being
the end of the year just a few days away, I find her to be the perfect
closing Masterpiece. She will make you breathless, that's how beautiful
she is. Her beauty is only comparable to her sound and playability that
will make you feel like you are holding an old companion. She responds
beautifully and the separation of voices, sustain and clarity on all her
registers is simply unequaled. I play The Air on the G string by
Bach, a work that always demands an instrument to be expressive on all
fronts in order for the inner beauty of the work to shine, and I also play
a very demanding arpeggio from the 70's from a pop group from Topeka called
Kansas's: "Dust in the Wind". I used it in the demo to show off
how easily she brings out the main counterpoint note in the tricky arpeggio
with just a slight adjustment of the singing right hand finer...
I thought to put a price tag of
5K and more, but I decided to come half way towards my "crisis hit" friends
and colleagues and I guarantee that whoever gets her, makes the investment
of a lifetime. |
