Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle B&S, Double top Contreras style V1, Cedar top.  Cocobolo Bridge and violin tie. Mother of pearl rosette, decorated bridge, violin tie and head stock. Snakewood marquetry and tiger myrtle armrest. 16" Cocobolo fingerboard. Double soundport in the upper left and right bouts. 640mm fret spacing.  Embossed leather case included.  AMAZING !!

Tiger Myrtle is astonishingly beautiful. The only thing I am sorry about is that I only have one set left and I do not when I'll be able to buy more sets. The coloration and figure on this particular set is of an immense beauty. The deep honey orange tone moves through all the colors of the sunset and it ends in a deep brown black. The two pieces of the back are perfectly bookmatched and  using Snakewood and African Padauk I bonded them with the cedar top. The sound she produces is full of the most amazing harmonics and overtones. The voices in the Bach prelude are easily distinguishable and the sustain is so powerful that I have to stop the bass in 2 occasions in order to prevent the harmony to go out of line. The warmth of cedar leaves a unique signature  to the sound and Tiger Myrtle is grandiose and seems to have no limit when it comes to power and variety in the tonal range. I consider this wood to be amongst the best of the best tonewoods on the planet.
Playability is excellent. The unbeatable 640mm radiused fingerboard makes every move for the left hand swift, natural and painless. I feel as though I always played this beauty and that is probably the best compliment for a brand new instrumen

The Region/Island of Tasmania is located south of Melbourne. The Tiger Myrtle trees can grow up to be GIANTS. As you can imagine, the wood is protected and only a few sets are commerced annually making it a greatly sought after Tropical wood

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.
Double top V1

The double top VARIATION 1, was developed and introduced by  Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. In this Variation of the Double top, a second top is located halfway between the main top and the back. It is held in place by means of little Mahogany bridges. This top vibrates a fraction of a second after the first one creating an immense sustain and punch.
