Elevated fingerboard (ULTRA construction)  Embossed leather case included.  STUNNING !!
The source of inspiration for this type of construction is Blair, Steven and Deborah Duran daughter who is a music prodigy. Blair is a top notch violin and guitar player. If this weren't enough per se, she plays the guitar like a left handed player and the violin like a right hand player ! Blair is auditioning for some of the greatest guitar teachers in the US.

Steven, Blair's father who is an Electrical Engineer and Owner of Automotive Robotics in Denton, TX. He has worked for high end companies like IBM. Steven wrote the control program that plasma coats jet engine components.  I jot down these points in his amazing curriculum to make it stand out that Steven is an inventor and the ideas that he shared with me regarding a certain type of construction, were simply irresistible for a curious soul like myself. They had to be tried out and they proved to be a GREAT SUCCESS.

Some of the changes are visible but most are hidden inside the case... Still, they are only visible to the keen observing eye. In other words, Steven and I have come up with a guitar that is revolutionary in many ways but she looks just like a normal Bellucci guitar... The flying fingerboard is the more visible feature because it is on the outside, but still, if you did not know it was flying, you would not notice. The reason is a very simple one: Allow the top to vibrate fully and avoid the contact between 2 very different woods (ebony and spruce) which have very different expansion/contraction ratios. But all the theory really adds up to one truth. This babe pushes a good 30% more volume than the average concert guitar in the 6th and 5th strings. On the other strings she pushes a 15-20% more power. It is quite an achievement considering that normally, gains are achieved in steps of 3-4%....

As I was mentioning, the real Engineering is inside the body. I cannot disclose all the secrets just yet because she is being patented. All I will say is that I used no Carbon fiber etc. but a clever combination of measures and wood selection for the internal structure. Listen to the video to HEAR what I mean...

Quadruple top:

The double top VARIATION 1, was developed and introduced by  Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s and reached its peak in the 80s. In this Variation of the Double top, a second top (Cedar, Image below) is located halfway between the main top and the back. This top vibrates a fraction of a second after the first one creating an immense sustain and punch.

The double top, was developed and introduced by  Master Luthier Manuel Contreras the II at the end of the 70s. The word "Tapa" in Spanish translates to top in English but it refers to the back of the instrument. Therefore, Contreras doble tapa is actually a "Double back". The Doble tapa allows the back and sides to be much more sturdy and reflect sound on the inner  walls of the body with much more intensity and speed. This makes the sound boom majestically.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a  flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard.  The standard fingerboard is flat.
Sinker logs

Sinker logs, are pulled from the bottom of lakes and rivers. Sometimes, scuba divers are needed to achieve the extraction.  Most of these logs are hundreds of years old (In one of the pictures above, you can see that the tree was cut with an hatchet). Due to a series of factors (The logs were too big and heavy to be pulled out of the rivers or the logs were caught by currents and were sucked to the bottom)  these logs were trapped by the muddy buttons of these water beds and this created like a time capsule where the wood was preserved in fantastic humidity conditions that made the wood season in a slow natural way during many centuries. Some of the logs are selected for musical instruments construction. The sound that these woods produce is unique and the grain has a beautiful coloration that changes according to the type of mud present in the water bed.
