Mangore, The Movie, Few More Days of Shooting Left

Today started for me and a group of other supporting actors along with the main stars and a crew of over 90 people at 2 am. It is one of those days that impress your memory for a lifetime. The movie "Mangore" is only 2 days from the shooting of its last scene. Tomorrow the same group depicted in the picture taken today on the set will be surrounding Mangore's death bed and play a multi guitar transcription I prepared for the final scene of Barrios' Jha Che Valle. To the far left is Mexican actor Damian Alcázar that plays a fabulous rendition of Mangore throughout the movie. Make up artistry is capable of making Alcázar live over 30 years of Barrios life. At the bottom I pose with Chilean Director Luis Vera at the end of a 7 hours Sunday shooting session...In today's scene, Barrios is giving a masterclass to 6 students in San Salvador. All 5 students participating in the scene are my guitar students. Among them is my son Franco (16) second from the right. We play the role of 6 Barrios students taking a simultaneous masterclass lesson with the Paraguayan genius in San Salvador.

The one above is the 1885 Marin guitar that Barrios owned and played in 1918 for the last time. This amazing guitar is in my private guitar collection and was given to me by the person who purchased it from Mangore himself in 1918 after a recital in Luque City, a small neighboring town of Asuncion. I restored the guitar and use it on a regular basis. The instrument is to say the least magical. In the image at the bottom of the page I am posing with the Chilean director Luis Vera. On Saturday, the filming crew will travel to Rio de Janeiro and later to Buenos Aires for the remaining parts of the script. The movie will be completed at the end of the month.
