New Transcription & Fingering: Johann Pachelbel, "Canon"

New Transcription & Fingering: Johann Pachelbel, "Canon"

Canon in D, Video 1 With Slow Motion

Pachelbel wrote the work for 3 violins and basso continuo. Like most other works by Bach and other Baroque composers , this Canon remained was forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered only in the 20th century. It has escalated to a point where it has become ne of the greatest favorites of audiences the world over. It  is frequently played at weddings and included on classical music compilations, along with other famous Baroque pieces such as Bach 'Air on the G String'.

I found many beautiful renditions of the work and finally decided on an approach that would encapsulate the spirit of the Canon that would suit the classicaa guitar best according to my knowledge of the instrument. The one transcription I found that really caught my fancy was by the Japanese guitarist Kotaro Oshio. The only problem was that it required detuning of the first string to D. So I decided to work around that by readapting the work to the standard D tuning of the classical guitar and further down is what I've come up with. Enjoy it.
