2010 will mark the beginning of a new LIMITED EDITION series of Bellucci guitars. The woods used in the construction of these super guitars are very scarce, expensive and are only available sporadically. Furthermore, these guitars will incorporate unique finishing details to enhance the beauty and elevate each one to the highest levels of luthery The first one of the series, is this FABULOUS Quilted Maple B&S, Lattice braced Curly Redwood top masterpiece. She is a top performer both aesthetically and acoustically. Each part, wood, and detailing was especially purchased for this guitar: The Cocobolo bindings, the matching handmade marquetry, the Maple for the tie, armrest and detailed Redwood bridge. Her beauty is simply ASTONISHING and the sound she produces will marvel you from the very first note. As I played Asturias, I could immediately tell that I was hearing one of the best sounding 4th and 5th strings I ever heard. Amazing punch ! Only surpassed perhaps by the shiny first string that enters in the fast arpeggio halfway through the Prelude of Leyenda. What a presence ! The slightest change of angle in my right hand translates in an immediate change of sound and I feel as though she has no limit. WonderfuL !! The 2 woods complement each other to perfection. The grain on the Curly redwood is of an amazing beauty and it seems as though not 2 fibers on the top are the alike. The wood has a coloration that seems to be the shadow cast by curtains... it is beautiful beyond words. Maple on the other hand creates these unbelievable swirls and it is marvelous to think that nature is capable of such unique art ! Playing on the radiused action is easy and having made her a cutaway, was probably one of the best decision of this Maple/Redwood project.

Hear this Curly redwood top guitar

Curly Redwood is one of Northern California most unique species. The logs can be GIGANTIC. Dinosaur proportions ! They are protected and only fallen specimens can be worked. As you can imagine, they have to be worked in their natural habitat because transporting them is practically speaking impossible.

Radiused or flat fingerboard?
The radiused fingerboard has been around the acoustic and the electric guitar since day one. The same is true for most instruments of the Stringed family of instruments (violas, violins cellos, bass). Radiusing (image above) makes barre and left hand stopping A LOT easier. The only drawback is that you will NEVER want to play a flat fingerboard after that. If you are having your custom guitar built, I am all pro radiusing the fingerboard. The standard fingerboard is flat.

The lattice is a concept based on the A frame of grand pianos. The back and sides are kept rigid by means of a sturdy A shaped frame and the top is thinned as much as possible to allow the top to vibrate generously. Lattice delivers a lot of volume a tremendous clarity.

The hand embossed leather case is a work of art on its own right. Built by one of a handful of very talented leather embossers in Latin America. Its built following my specifications for the interior to fit Bellucci guitars like a glove. All Plush interior, key and accessories compartment. You can request an upgrade to a Cow hive front and back version.
