Dalbergia is without a doubt the most striking wood family in the Rosewood realm. African Blackwood also belongs to the Dalbergia family of trees. Cocobolo grows in Central America and parts of Northern Brazil. It is very dense and the figure it presents can often challenge even the most striking sets of Brazilian Rosewood. The colors move from a dark yellow, pass through orange and red and the deepest Brown and even pitch black. A tropical sunset is the most similar image I get when I look at the grain of Cocobolo. It leaves the observer speechless. I matched the striking back and sides with a marvelous set of Franquette Walnut which is an ancient Walnut variety from Persia. The figure that this unique set possesses is simply stunning. Nature does a fantastic job at swirling dark stripes on the sober Beige background. The sonorous qualities of Franquette Walnut are simply perfect. Clearly defined basses and striking trebles.The 2 woods work harmoniously in the creation of the best classical guitar sound. One defined by clarity, excellent separation of voices and an amazing natural sustain. You can appreciate the clarity of the melody and her singing power in Asturias. She's amazingly easy to play and you feel in the company of an old companion from the very start. I added 2 of the extras I consider very useful which are the armrest that prevents the forearm from dampening the sound of the top and the violin tie that removes all the strain from anchoring the strings at the bridge. These 2 add-ons augment both power and sustain. Decorating this Masterpiece was perhaps the best part of the work and every single piece of the handmade marquetry elevates the sum of all the parts that constitute her. I picked and designed each strip of wood for the bindings and linings to help merge all the woods to perfection. This is a breathtaking instrument that ranks among the best Bellucci ever built.
