Amazing Pictures

One of my first passions which started practically at the same time as my passion for the classical guitar is photography. What deepened my love for the art was an elective I took for  a year at the American School of Asunción. The teacher was Paul Griffin, who loved photography passionately and transmitted the love for it to me and all who took his courses. I was immediately introduced to the darkroom and learned that half of the picture is taken by the camera and the other half is taken in the darkroom. Today the word darkroom is practically unknown by the new generation and its substitute is called Photoshop a truly amazing tool I must add. Still, the results we achieved during those amazing darkroom sessions were the best anyone could dream of. I still remember how the developer, the first of 3 steps in developing black and white pictures, slowly revealed the image on the photographic paper as you gently rocked the tray containing the liquid and the picture.... It was almost like witnessing a miracle happen. Plus the red light we used to see inside the darkroom added an atmosphere of mystery that only made the experience a more memorable one.
