Paraguayan Lapacho is without any doubt the most sought after Paraguayan wood species and Paraguayans in general are very proud of this local wood species. Most homes until the late 1980's used to have quite a bit of their roofing support made with Lapacho and the reason is that it is a tremendously hard and dense wood species. I was the first guitar builder to my knowledge that indulged in using the wood for guitar construction, The reason being that most Lapacho is cut for home construction and I really had to did dee and for a long time until I was able to get a hold of a good billet and have it cut appropriately.
