Comments : Dear Renato, I was a guest for a month before deciding to join. I shouldn't have waited that long, for the wealth of knowledge you present in this site is worth more than the price of admission. What a difference it has made in my studies. I love your philosophy, your iconoclasm. I began studying classical guitar in the early 80s, but soon was discouraged due to the 'traditional' approach--the endless boring exercises, etc. I didn't last very long, and had abandoned my studies for two decades. I still played the guitar, but just fooled around.
I couldn't stay away forever. I'm back, and with much gusto. Too much at times, as I cannot stop playing for hours and hours. Perhaps I should see a shrink, as you had suggested for people who play/practice more than 3 hours a day. My only regret is I didn't find mangore.com before I had purchased a Juan Hernandez Profesor. Your guitars are beautiful. (The Profesor is also a beautiful instrument, but . . . .) It takes a lot of willpower to resist whipping out my credit card and ordering a custom Mangore. I don't know how much longer I can resist. More power to you, your family, and mangore.com. We need people like you, and sites like mangore.com in this world. Sincerely, Jude

Comments : Came accross your site while I was in the process of researching classical guitars. I started to teach myself the guitar a little over a month ago and I am simply fanscinated by the instrument. I am 55 years old and have never played an instrument in my life but have found that I have an unbelievable passion to learn this instrument. I have been practicing between 1-2 hours after work everyday and it has been difficult, frustrating, yet a rewarding, relaxing and intellectual experience. I read through some of your instructional material and was very impressed and I am seriously considering signing up for lessons on your site. While on your site, I browed through your selection of classical guitars and was simply blown away by the craftmanship and beauty. Warmest regards, Virgil

I live on a small island at the foot of the Mississipp River with a populaation of about 75 people it varies because the people who live and work here are Bar Pilots. I work as a River captain for the ar Pilots ferring them back and forth to the ships. This gives me about 5 - 6 hours a day to play guitar. I am currently tring to learn all the works of Francisco Tarrega.

Comments : Merry Christmas Mr. Bellucci, I just have to thank you. I have been resigned to thinking I would never have the time to learn how to read standard notation and I would always have to rely on tablature .I recently found your website afterseeing it in Guitart magazine. The way you explain music reading just made it so simple to me not only do I understand the staffs relation to the fretboard but I was sight reading simple melodies within a couple of hours. I have put away my TAB books and I am using sheet music exclusively. I certainly plan on joining once I have some extra money. Thank you again, and God Bless you and your family this Christmas. Comments : Dear Renato, I just stumbled across your website and was very impressed. I have played acoustic guitar for over three decades and recently took up classical after many years away from it. I had a teacher recently who I was not very impressed with because I felt he wasted too much time at the lessons. He charged me $40.00/hr! I am seriously considering joining your site if but I am merely an intermediate player. Would I have enough skill to benefit from your lessons? I also am considering purchasing another guitar. I own a guitar that cost ove $1,000 US and it is not solid rosewood, nor does it come up to the level of the guitars your luthier builds. I wish I had discovered this site before I purchased. But, perhaps I can buy another and give my present Cordoba laminate to one of my children who also play. Guitars are so over-priced in America! Thanks for the hard work to put together such a valuable website. Sincerely, Steve Lamm

Comments : I have been playing classical guitar for about 10 years and began with huge enthusiasm. I studied in the Uk and Ireland but unfortuanetly ran into a teacher in Ireland obsessed with 'traditional' ways of learning the guitar. He made me play scales, arppegios and Sor studies ALL THE TIME. My music reading and technique did develop but I lost the desire to play... Then earlier this year I decided to go to Paraguay and study with Renato on an impulse. What a difference! He immediately made playing the guitar fun again and reminede me that technique is at the service of music, not the other way round. No technical studies, real pieces and little bits of techniques to solve real problems. I also bought the love of my life whilst in paraguay, a Mangore concert guitar. Worth every penny and now I must play 2 hours a day minimum. A great teacher, great site and I can vouch for Renato, his family Asuncion and Paraguay as a great place to visit. Subsribe, buy a guitar and go there - it's worth it.

Comments : I love this site!! I happened upon it while searching about posture. I am going to be mainly self taught and could not find any really good info about avoiding the obvious problems with the traditional position. I love the concept of thinking about each thing you do and why you do it. I myself want to be my own teacher and student. I have yet to join and already find myself on every night. I am greatly interested into any insights into Carlevaro's teachings. I also would like to learn as much about the different techniques to play each note well and in control over playing fast. I don't say this lightly; I could not have imagined that a web site like this existed. It is perfect for me. My favorite continent to travel to is South America, so hopefully I can make it to Paraguay soon. Thank You!

Comments : Thank you for your website. It is a great inspiration to me, a beginning player. The way you speak of finding one's own style and voice is very correct. This is what all good teachers want to produce in their students. We all must learn how to write with correct penmanship, but it would be a very poor teacher who demands we must all sign our name in the same way. I am still in the penmanship stage, by the way. But, it is so encouraging to read what you say, because the goal is to produce beautiful sound.

Comments : Renato...Thanks for making classical guitar a "down to earth" experience. Learning to read notation (though I am still in the beginning stages) has helped take much of the intimidation out of understanding the fretboard. The days of meaningless scale practice are gone. On another note, (so to speak) the guitar you hooked me up with is worth every penny!!...A deep tone that blows away anything I've found in local music stores; and the coolest colors I've ever seen on a guitar. You'll just have to take my word that I am grinning from ear to ear!!!!!

Dear Renato: I am a new member (about 1 month) and look at your site every day for new ideas and knowledge. I am currently taking private lessons and supplementing that knowledge with your site. My biggest frustration is seeing all of the wonderful dream pieces on your site that I want to play but need to pace myself because I am a newcomer to the classical guitar and need to learn fundamentals before taking on too much technically. However, the master classes give me a lot to aspire to and I am sure I will catch up in good time. Thanks again for your valuable instruction. Best regards,

Renato, What a great six months of guitar playing! How could I not renew? In six months I have learned to play, or at least played through, even if not quite musically yet, pieces I have only dreamed of playing. La Catedral is the best example. Without exaggeration, and along with buying my G.V. Rubio Hauser, subscription to mangore.com has been the wisest use of my “music” money. I will enjoy a yearly subscription this time around and look forward to learning all of the new music selected for the new masterclass series.

Hello Renato: Just renewed my membership for 6 months and thought I would just take the time to thank you as thousands have done before me for creating such a magnificent website. It is very encouraging in a world conditioned to mediocrity and get rich quick schemes that there is someone like you, who has achieved so much and yet has given back in equal measure. I 'll try not to overdo it, but every now and again one needs someone to aspire to. I am not talking necessarily about being a guitar virtuoso moreover someone who has humility, generosity, fulfilment and purpose. Pretty fundamental concepts really but extremely rare in the world we live in. On another note (no pun intended!). Thank you for introducing me to Mangore's work. I took five months to learn Una Limosna por el amo dios. I play the piece every day so as to not to forget. I am still working to achive a resemblance of fluency whilst playing for someone. The devil is in the detail, but it is a fascinating voyage of discovery. Thanks again Renato

Comments : Hello Renato: Starting to play again seriously after a few years.I just had the opportunity to attend a masterclass given by Christopher Parkening and I am afraid much of what you say is true. Mechanically played pieces, one after the other. Seemingly no concept of what the guitar is about, no audience involvment. Poor Parkening had to be gracious, but even he was getting fed up. I enjoyed your rendition of Elegia. I wish you could have been at the class to show one simple piece played beautifully is worth a hundred flashy pieces played quickly.

Comments : Hi, Your web site is incredible. I've been searching (not just on the net) for someone willing to share what they know about classical guitaring. Usually people end up telling me how things must be done, or would rather show off their skill (which would be great if they were skilled) and so on. But until I found your web site I had never found anyone prepared to talk about the guitar and playing it in a really profound sense. I've never had a teacher nor have I had the chance to meet a single acomplished classical guitarist. I am diligent in my practice though. The understanding I have gathered from your web site has enriched my playing imensely. Thanks You, I'll continue coming back.

Comments : Hi Renato, first I want to thank you so much for the efforts and time you put in this page .. it's amazing. Its exactly what I was looking for. I would really really really appreciate it if you could e-mail me some tips that you could give to a beginner who wants to become a great classical guitar player. Francis
