Elton John, "Candle in the Wind"

Candle in the Wind was originally written for and dedicated to Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marilyn Monroe and was adapted in occasion of Lady Diana Spencer's death in 1997. It is a very beautiful song with resolving melodies always hanging by the most beautiful harmonic suspension. I strived at preserving the main spirit of the work when preparing the transcription I offer here. This is part of a series of all time great hits that are very much embedded in my generation, one that was marked by what could easily be defined as the generation of the greatest songwriters of all times. Some of the songs form the 70's by prolific composers such as Elton John, Paul Mc Cartney, Cat Stevens, Dan Fogelberg and Jim Croce to mention a handful have left a legacy of mazing songs behind that have shaped music history and will probably never be equaled again. Very much the same as the Sonata period or the Symphony period that will never come back.
