Beethoven Ludwig Van, "Symphony No.6 Pastorale"
Transcription and Fingering: Renato Bellucci
With the great German Master birthday approaching real fast I knew I had to offer both of us (I say "us" because I share Beethoven's Birthday on December 17th) a small token of my deep appreciation for having left a legacy of music that enriches the lives of millions and shows the high mountaintops that human can achieve. I transcribed and fingered an excerpt from the 1st movement of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, "Pastoral". The tuning of D simply amplifies the sustain possibilities of the guitar thus making her a better interpreter of such a grand masterpiece. The 4th string plays a starring role bringing out the main melodic voice and so des the first..The other challenge is to get the elbow by the side of your body. This will help finger 4 to reach further up the bass strings.I like to merge several smaller pieces in a suite-like manner. For instance: Playing Fur elise, The Pathetique Sonata and the Pastoral (soon I will upload Symphony No.5 main theme) makes for a great unity because these Beethoven masterpieces rank between the 10 best known pieces of music in the entire Universe and you would not want to leave them out of your repertoire. Plus, the audience loved to feel as though they are not "so ignorant" !
