J.S. Bach, "Toccata"
One of Bach's best known melodies
Bach Toccata and Fugue is perhaps one of the German Master's best known pieces. The power of the pipe organ was definitely an essential reason why. I often get a smirk on my face when I think of the organ wind blower responsible to supply enough compressed air for Bach to be able to play this Baroque monster in the first place. Yes, the pipe organ is monster. Before electricity was unveiled, a young man had to paddle uninterruptedly in a bellows in order to supply enough compressed air to pass through the pipes.
