Yiruma River Flows in You

Yiruma, "River Flows in You"

Beautiful !

I discovered this amazing piece when one of my guitar students mentioned it to me and asked me if I could transcribe it for him. I looked into it and I was struck immediately and definitely saw it as a challenge worth taking. River Flows in You is a song composed and performed by South Korean composer Yiruma. The song was featured on Yiruma's album "First Love", released in 2001, and has since been covered by many artists the world over. The piece will help you to master the use of open strings to move from one position to the next on the fingerboard, Bring the main melody out and use technical elements such as levers and pivots. Lee Ru-ma (Korean: 이루마; born February 15, 1978), better known by his stage name Yiruma (Korean: 이루마), is a South Korean pianist and composer. Yiruma frequently performs at sold-out concerts in Asia, Europe and North America. His alma mater, King's College London, helped him gain European popularity and recognition. Among his most popular pieces are River Flows in You, Love Hurts, Kiss the Rain, and May Be. Yiruma's most popular album, First Love, was released in 2001.

He began playing the piano at the age of five and moved to London when he was 10, in 1988, to study at the Purcell School of Music. He held dual citizenship, South Korean and British, until 2006, when he gave up his UK citizenship to serve in the South Korean Navy.
